“In his work, Evgeny Yakovlev makes a complete break with the optical nature of color and treats it as a symbolic element of an autonomous method of communication. Most often, preference is given to bright natural tones: red, yellow, blue. The artist emphasizes and sharpens them to the meaning of the coloristic code of figurative and psychological impact. Open pure colors are clearly rational in constructing spatial plans, and the plasticity of the composition and active contours indicate the author’s proximity to Fauvism. Thanks to this approach, the paintings are characterized by tension and extraordinary expression ”
